The Diary of Anne Frank: The diary that Anne Frank kept was symbolic of hope because everyday she wrote in that book everyday about crazy and terrible stuff that happened in her life. Everyday she hoped that she would not get caught by the Nazis to let them torture her and kill her like other Jews. She and her whole family hoped that if they just stayed hidden no one would find them. This is the quote from the book, " This is D-day", came the announcement over the English news and quite rightly, " this is the day." The invasion has begun. She is obviously very scared and shocked that this day has come that the horrible German invasion is coming! (pg.244)
"The Secret Annex": The Secret Annex was a hiding place that whole family hide to get away from the Nazis. This very special hiding place is a symbol of safety because it kept them hidden from the harm and mistreatment that the anti-Jewish people would do to them if they found them . Also if they do end up catching them there is so many horrible things that the Nazis can do to them to make them feel and seem so bad and unwanted. The secret annex had many different rooms and secret places to hide at and the only way you could even get to the annex was to open a hidden book shelf that opened up to a stair case that lead to the top of the annex. Another reason why it is a symbol b/c it is very quiet and the annex has thin walls so if anybody tried to secretly attack the Franks they wouldn'tsucceed their mission to attack because they would get caught. The quote from the book " The Secret Annex" is an ideal hiding place. (pg.20)
The Star of David: This is a symbol of devotion. The star of David is a symbol of the Judaism, it is supposed to represent the shape of King Davids shield that he used. The Jews had used this symbol in their daily life even before the holocaust or the Nazis using it as humiliation came about. The Jews gave a lot of their love to the star it was very important to them like the cross is important to Christians. This is the quote from the book " Jews must wear a yellow star". During these days Jews were forbidden a lot of rights like they cant stay out after 8:00, they were forbidden to drive, and even Jews were not allowed to take apart of public sports like swimming, tennis, hockey etc. (pg.4)
